National Disabled
Pets Day, was founded by animal behaviorist Colleen Paige, founder of
the
Animal Miracle Network and Editor of
Pet Home Magazine and holidays such as
National Dog Day
and
National Cat Day.
Colleen created this day to bring public awareness to the plight of
disabled, special needs and geriatric pets in shelters and sanctuaries
nationwide that are awaiting forever homes. It is also a day she hopes
will draw attention to the organizations that care for these pets and she
encourages people to donate or volunteer their time to help.
